This book was isn’t going to knock your socks off, but it’s a nice afternoon read.

The plot is pretty thin. We need a reason for the hero and heroine to be together. So, despite the massive battle that killed her entourage, captain of her guard, her uncle etc. no one finds any evidence of it. I guess they must’ve really been on back roads, and the bad guys must’ve had a veritable army to clean up the mess. Oh, no wait, it was one guy that cleaned it up. *shakes head*

I didn’t find it believable. But I suspended disbelief as we couldn’t have good guys finding her if she was going to need the hero to get her to London. Alone, of course.

Romance: They fall in love along the way to London. They’re so in lust with each other, that they need to quickly marry so they can have sex. Par for the romance genre, if a bit unbelievable. The author did try to make the princess seem like she’d be okay giving up her extremely privileged life to live with a commoner.

Steamy Scenes: This is really where the author shone. The steamy scenes were steamy, the prose pretty without getting in the way of what was going on between them. She used none of my automatic close the books words, we’re good there.

Characters: There is no character development. Not really sure how they would develop as both seem pretty perfect from the beginning. This is your typical romance fare, so neither character is going to grow or develop in the story.

All in, a decent read. I finished it on a blustery afternoon, and it wasn’t gripping enough I couldn’t put it aside with ease to make snacks for the kids. At the same time, it entertained and didn’t disappoint with the ending.

Her Highness and the Highlander A Princess Brides Romance Tracy Anne Warren 9780451238436 Books Reviews

So what is wrong with a fairy tale? Nothing. I just expect more from this author. I am going to go back and reread some of her older books since the last few seem a little different. I need to see if they have indeed changed or I have merely changed my taste in books. I hate to give bad reviews and this is not really a bad review........more just disappointed.

I thought the book started out great and then settled into mediocrity and continued that way until it picked up again near the end. The entire middle of the book seemed to just fill space, with syrupy thoughts, and explict sex scenes. Although.....nothing wrong with those scenes!

The hero is sexy enough, and the heroine sweet, if a trifle too naïve. The story was almost entirely predictable with no surprises. Lest I be all negative, remember Cinderella?! Almost everyone loves that story!

I shall undoubtedly buy Ms. Warrens next book. I will be hoping for just a little more depth.
Good read for those who like historical romances, especially those set in Scotland! Just a touch of history, a good plot, and a great couple!
this is my favorite book in the princess series. it's funny and romantic. the characters come to life in this book. a GREAT read.
This was a gift. She said it was a pretty good read, but not fabulous like she was expecting.
I really loved this book until about up to 80% on my . We had a really fab love story developing and then the author had a moment of madness I think. It just jarred with what had happened up until that point. I absolutely loved the hunky Scottish H, he was so protective and treated the h like a princess even though he didn't think she really was one. The h was sweet and kind and lovable.

***Spoilers***

I honestly do not believe that the H would/should have walked away from his marriage to the heroine based on one conversation with her father. Seriously??? After how beautifully they had grown together and after one particular moment with her where he says she belongs to him and no one can take her away from him. I was honestly disappointed with this plot development and cost this book a 5 star review.

Still well worth reading for the first 80% and the eventual hea
Nothing jumped out of this book as being particularly noteworthy. While we all like to indulge in a fantasy world, where true love conquers all, this is on that border of being TOO unrealistic. Little bit of drawn out (and not very engaging) trouble for our heroine (who was actually really obnoxious but tolerable) and hero (who was aight).
I started heavily drinking by chapter 5 , so much is a blur to me.
In other words, it was fine but I wouldn't recommend this to anyone simply because it isn't interesting enough for me to remember.
This is the first book I've read by this author, but it won't be the last. I bought this for ~$2 during a sale, but it's well worth the full price. The main characters are likeable, believable, and have plenty of chemistry together. The plot is similarly believable & moved along at just the right pace not too quickly where the reader is confused about events & characters, and not too slowly where reading is tiresome. I found the author's writing style to be intelligent without being inaccessible; the language she used wasn't overly flowery or dry. And, while it's the second in a series, I found it to stand completely on its own (though the references to characters in the other two books were a nice touch for secondary characters). There was a bit of violence & steamy love scenes, but those elements fit nicely with the story and didn't seem gratuitous or overly explicit. All in all, this was a perfect romance book that got all the elements just right for my reading taste, and it's a book I'd happily re-read.
